Transportation to get into the State

Itanagar, the Capital city of Arunachal Pradesh is well connected by daily bus services from Guwahati (approx. 381 km) and other places of Assam. Arunachal Pradesh State transport buses available throughout Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. The nearest railhead to Itanagar is situated at Harmutty (33 km) in Assam. The nearest airport to Itanagar is located at Lilabari in Assam

Entry Formalities

For Indians: Inner permits are issued by the Secretary, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and respective Deputy commissioner of the districts to enter into the state.

For Foreigners: Foreigner can obtain the protected area permit from all the Indian Missions, Home Ministry, Government of India and Home Commissioners, Government of Arunachal Pradesh for a period of 10  days for a group of four or more persons.

Major Tourist Festival

Buddha Mahotsava: This festival organised by the ministry of tourism and culture, Government of India, aims to promote Arunachal Pradesh as a unique travel destination and to showcase the rich tourism potential of the state. This festival is held in Tawang during the November month of every year.
